Instant Messaging for Fantasy Baseball…. What a Concept!

 

In the never ending quest to combine anything and everything with our fantasy baseball pursuits, we have recently introduced our fantasy baseball instant messenger to the world (“world” loosely defined as a handful of friends and family that have helped us test the software) to better connect our membership with one another.

 

Why would we do such a crazy thing?

 

After years of typing messages on fantasy message boards or “forums”, we’ve all yearned for something slightly more real-time without the need for delayed gratification.  Message boards are great, but you never really know if anyone will respond (intelligently or not) to your point, question, trash talk, etc.  You just don’t know until you check back… or not.  Why not get an instant read on what people are thinking?

 

With that in mind, and perhaps to better trash talk amongst ourselves (who will generate more value in ’08: Rasmus or Bruce?), we now have an IM capability that can allow us to all connect, both publicly (in a General forum), by league (NL/AL) and eventually by team.  You can even connect with online users to an initiate a private chat.

 

Let me know if you find this of value, as we expect it to be very useful during the season as we’re all watching games and guessing as to whether our favorite player’s latest hammy pull will put him on the shelf and to connect with other members who have players on each team. 

 

Finally, we’ve built this thing with the ability to stand alone from our site as we don’t want to limit it to baseballinsights members…anyone can use it if they want.
